The SDO Intern is an entry-level, hourly position designed for recent college graduates with a degree in logistics. This role provides hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a large Staples Delivery Operation. Interns will work closely with experienced supervisors, gaining insights and skills across various areas such as sorting, staffing planning, delivery, and customer service. This position is a foundational step toward a career in supply chain management.
Note: This intern position requires you to be onsite and based at the Staples Distribution Center in Ontario, CA (SDO).
Target Start Date: June 2, 2025 - August 15, 2025 (11-week program)

What you’ll be doing:
- Shadow experienced fulfillment center supervisors to learn and understand all aspects of final mile transportation, including safety protocols and logistics.
- Assist in overseeing daily operations including material handling, sorting and loading, daily driver dispatch, and staffing planning.
- Participate in the training and support of a team comprising of Delivery Material Handlers and Drivers ensuring adherence to productivity and quality standards.
- Contribute to the implementation and enforcement of health and safety standards to maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
- Support the optimization of the operation through continuous improvement initiatives and lean warehouse practices.
- Collaborate with other team members to resolve operational issues and ensure the timely delivery of goods.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss improvements and achievements in transportation operations, safety performance, and process enhancements.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of reports on departmental activities, key performance indicators, and project status updates to management.
- Engage in special projects and tasks as assigned, providing hands-on support and analysis.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a bachelor's in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Must be a rising junior or senior graduating in May 2026 or May 2027, enrolled as a full-time student carrying a minimum of 12 college credits
- Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties, including lifting items up to 50 pounds
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Availability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required by the workflow demands of the fulfillment center
