Role Summary:

The Sales Engineer serves as an important part of Staples’ go-to-market strategy, working with new customers to ensure a positive onboarding experience, build programs and craft solutions designed to meet their needs, and serve as a subject matter expert and support resource for our business development organization.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead onboarding efforts for large, newly-won customers in partnership with business development counterparts.
  • Execute implementations in accordance with Staples’ onboarding playbook, leveraging strong project management skills to ensure timely execution of all tasks.
  • Drive internal and customer-facing project calls, interacting with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
  • Serve as the primary support resource to business developers to coordinate non-selling & support activities during the course of an implementation.
  • Able to effectively interact and guide conversations directly with key contacts at enterprise customers at the Director or VP level.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Staples’ program & eCommerce offerings and capabilities to build customer programs, using understanding of customer needs to craft simple, scalable program solutions.
  • Drive customer needs discovery and program & support requirements gathering in tandem with Staples’ business development team.
  • Monitor win ramp and coordinate win/ramp activities post-implementation in partnership with sales counterparts to ensure customer ramps to forecasted revenue and profitability.

What you bring to the table:

  • Ability to travel on demand.  Knowledge of set up system, Sunrise, test environments strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organization skills, written and verbal communications and an attention to detail.   
  • Ability to interact with key contacts at Director/VP level at large, enterprise customers.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years in Sales or Project Management.
  • Working knowledge of customer set up including punchout, hosted file and direct SBA.com customers.  
  • Experience with Staples systems including Contract Gateway, Customer Set Up, Sunrise, SBA.com, and the various test environments.  
  • Must know Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
