We're seeking a Senior Category Merchant of Office Supplies & Paper  to join our dynamic team at Quill in Lincolnshire, IL. This role is responsible for managing high volume and complex product lines, driving sales and margin goals, and leading a team.

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans for high volume and complex product lines.
  • Lead direct and cross-functional teams to create a best-in-class online shopping experience.
  • Independently develop assortment strategies and select vendors for assigned product lines.
  • Negotiate with vendors for the lowest total delivered cost, volume incentives, rebates, and other applicable allowances.
  • Manage and coach a team of merchants responsible for the financial performance of their categories.
  • Develop team members into future leaders with timely feedback and effective development plans.
  • Optimize online shopping experience and revenue through search, browse, ribbons, content, imagery, and more.
  • Utilize insights from web and customer analytics for online, digital, print, and sales channels.
  • Jointly develop market-based pricing strategies with the pricing team.
  • Responsible for promotional strategy including sales forecast, vendor negotiations, and promo allowances.

What you bring to the table:  

  • Proven ability to drive sales and margin results.
  • Experience with leading and managing a team.
  • Ability to analyze data, understand key indicators, and make decisions using that data.
  • Online merchandising experience.
  • Experience in vendor negotiations.
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and a problem solver.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications  

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in merchandising.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Online merchandising experience.
  • Experience in vendor negotiations.
  • Proven ability to drive sales and margin results.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

What’s needed - Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with leading and managing a team.
  • Multiple category experience including P&L management.
  • Experience working with B2B customers or sales teams.
