The Manager, Strategic Sourcing for Supply Chain is responsible for leading complex sourcing events including RFIs, RFPs, and competitive bids as well as establishing contracts and relationships with new suppliers, managing renewals and extensions with existing suppliers, and working with stakeholders to navigate the procure-to-pay process.
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing for Supply Chain supports Staples Retail and NAD Supply Chain functions including but not limited to Transportation, Facilities, Asset Protection, and Retail Print Marketing Solutions.The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for specific projects and contract negotiations to achieve annual sourcing savings targets.
What you will be doing:
- Lead complex sourcing events, including RFIs, RFPs, and competitive bids, while establishing contracts and building relationships with new suppliers.
- Manage contract renewals and extensions with existing suppliers, supporting multiple teams within the Staples Finance category.
- Partner with stakeholders to navigate the procure-to-pay process and drive cost reduction, value creation, and continuous improvement to achieve annual savings targets.
- Act as a liaison between Staples Legal, Risk, and Cyber Security teams and suppliers to ensure effective contracting and compliance.
- Provide best-in-class service, guiding stakeholders through the entire sourcing process and supporting business leads in achieving their strategic goals through supplier selection and contract management.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in sourcing decisions, managing projects that significantly impact company performance.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop sourcing professionals.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic and analytical thinking, with financial acumen and a strong ethical foundation.
- Proficiency in project management, procurement systems (such as Coupa/ePAS), and contract processes.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects and driving results with minimal direction.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative mindset.
What’s needed: Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of procurement protocols, contract structure and negotiation, and industry trends within sourcing categories.
- Demonstrated ability to generate cost reduction savings and manage complex sourcing projects from inception to completion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Professional certifications in supply chain or procurement.
- Experience in a global sourcing environment.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice category management, sourcing, and procurement.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
