Field Sales Representative - Staples Promotional Products

This role will be a Hybrid position for Calgary, AB and a Remote position for Vancouver, BC.  You will be expected to engage in business travel to the extent necessary or desirable for the performance of your duties

What you’ll be doing:

  • Service the field locations of our contracted accounts. Increases sales within existing customer base through proactive activities such as customer calls, in-person meeting and events, marketing, delivery of exceptional customer service, developing an awareness of customer requirements/preferences and changes in the local market, competitors and industry
  • Prospecting: Secures new accounts through networking, referrals, and cold calls
  • Increases sales by staying current with new products and trends
  • Researches and prepares quotes to ensure maximum profit and market competitiveness
  • Completes the request form on SFDC to submit quote and order requests to Special Order Team
  • Brings all client quote requests over $10,000 to the attention of the Regional Sales Manager
  • Brings all client quote requests over $50,000 to the attention of the Regional Sales Manager and National Director of Sales
  • Maintains and increases margins to within client and department guidelines
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by working with members of the sales team as well as members of sales support teams across the business
  • Acts as a proxy for the client internally at SPP when interacting with all Account Services and Special Order teams
  • Works with Special Order Team to ensure that all Special Orders are placed and delivered according to the customer requirements

What you bring to the table:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentations skills with a flair for sales
  • Industry experience (ie: understanding of decoration processes, quoting, and SAGE) preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills 
  • Highly proficient business written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to discern message content
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and changing work environment and ability to demonstrate a positive and supportive attitude at all times even during stressful or difficult situations
  • Ability to support company and management initiatives and/or decisions and the ability to prioritize and execute work under tight deadlines
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skillsets 
  • Maintains a record of sales activities and follow-up requirements in the designated system
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the SPP brand by utilizing promotional materials to introduce and increase customer knowledge of SPP in the Canadian market

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • High School or College Diploma, or equivalent work experience
  • 1–3 years of sales experience, with a hunter mentality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Salesforce (asset)
  • Strong math aptitude
  • Ability to travel to visit customers across Alberta and BC
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle in good working condition
