What you’ll be doing:
Join the Enterprise Architecture team with a primary responsibility to be an End-to-End Enterprise Architect with the focus on Business, eCommerce, Modernization Strategy. Staples is on an exciting journey to redefine customer experience and deliver new brand, products and services to our customers. We are on our journey to public cloud by transforming legacy applications to Cloud Native, Microservice based API and Event Driven Architecture. We are looking for a strategic thinker, thought leader and problem solver as part of our Enterprise Architecture team to drive the standards, reference architecture and reference implementations in the form of architectural building blocks across the organization. You will build relationship with Business partners, Senior Product Managers and Development teams to drive the end-to-end Architecture by applying Cloud First Strategy and principles. Our journey to a Digital Enterprise has started and Enterprise Architecture is leading the charge. You will be the trusted advisor for Business and Infrastructure teams within Staples Digital Solutions in this journey. If you want to make a difference, we want to talk to you!
What you bring to the table:
- A customer first mindset to drive architecture that is scalable, cloud first, cost effective and increase business agility.
- Passion for understanding and solving B2B and B2C retail domain opportunities and challenges
- Highly collaborative individual who can work with technical and business teams to influence key architectural decisions
- Work with Solution architecture community, Business teams and Product owners to define end to end architecture.
- Architect scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions using cloud-native application principles, emphasizing multi-cloud compatibility and seamless deployment across diverse cloud providers, ensuring a robust customer experience and efficient application performance.
- Lead DevSecOps strategy with automated CI/CD pipelines, enforcing security best practices within the SDLC, and delivering automated, secure, and reliable release management to support agile development and continuous delivery processes.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of technology stacks, selecting components optimized for multi-cloud environments, ensuring applications are both cloud-agnostic and able to leverage the benefits of Kubernetes for high availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Be able to identify Technology complexities and gaps to develop scorecards / recommendations to simplify Technology and application landscape using rationalization techniques.
- Deep understanding of Business, Infrastructure Capability model and demonstrable experience driving Architecture around Business Capabilities.
- Be the trusted advisor to Application Architects to define Architectural patterns for modernizing their applications to public cloud
- Work very closely with Enterprise Cloud Architects within EA team and Cloud Engineering teams to align Solution Architecture to our Cloud First Principles
- Define target state architecture and develop phased roadmaps that front load business value and deliver critical capabilities
- Lead Architecture Governance function and further strengthen the Federated EA model with a community of Architects.
- Develops and documents current and target state architecture diagrams and mappings
- Provides architecture oversight of application and technology projects and programs
- Motivate, coach, and serve as a role model and mentor for other architects.
Qualifications - External
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
- BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- 12 years of Enterprise, Technical and Solution Architecture with strong focus on Data and distributed systems, eCommerce.
- 7+ years of driving end to end Architecture with a focus on Business, Infrastructure Strategy, Technology Architecture with strong focus on Data, infrastructure, Cloud.
- 10+ years of very strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure Architecture and Development.
- Strong understanding of Architectural Frameworks like TOGAF as well as ability to adapt to new paradigms we progress on the hybrid cloud journey
- Experience modeling Motivation, Capability, Business, Technology architecture
- Experience working on large, transformational projects and a proven ability to bring disparate technical teams together around a shared architectural vision
- Very strong knowledge of modern cloud deployment patterns and architecture
- Keen understanding of Cloud native solutions on Azure is preferable.
- Strong experience aligning EA with Scaled Agile Framework and good understanding of Value Stream based development methodology.
- Strong business mindset with customer obsession; ability to collaborate with business partners to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills to both executives and technical architects and developers
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in computer science or other Engineering disciplines
- Strong Azure Cloud Experience
