Role summary:
As the Senior Manager of DevOps, you will lead the charge in transforming the development and implementation of DevOps practices across our eCommerce platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and operational efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, operations, and IT, to streamline deployment pipelines, automate processes, and provide innovative solutions that support business growth.
What you’ll be doing:
- DevOps Strategy & Leadership:
- Define and execute the DevOps strategy for the eCommerce platform to support business goals.
- Lead a team of DevOps engineers, ensuring high standards of performance, collaboration, and growth.
- Advocate for a culture of automation, shift left culture, continuous improvement, and innovation across development and operations teams.
- Infrastructure & Cloud Management:
- Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) for eCommerce applications, ensuring high availability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Lead infrastructure as code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Ensure scalability and performance optimization of eCommerce applications and related services.
- CI/CD Pipeline Management:
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Streamline release cycles, ensuring rapid, secure, and seamless deployments.
- Monitor pipeline efficiency, diagnose issues, and continuously improve processes for faster time to market using DevSecOps best practices
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:
- Collaborate with development, QA, and product teams to align DevOps practices with business and technical needs.
- Provide DevOps support requested from different verticals and different channels.
- Support eCommerce platforms by ensuring system reliability, uptime, and capacity management.
- Automation & Monitoring:
- Lead efforts in automating repetitive processes, enhancing operational workflows, and reducing manual interventions.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to track application performance, infrastructure health, availability of all environments and incident management.
- Set up alerts, dashboards, and automated recovery mechanisms for proactive issue resolution.
- Ensure comprehensive logging and diagnostic tools are in place (e.g., ELK stack, Splunk) to quickly identify and address issues specific to each environment.
- Implement automated health checks that continuously validate the health and readiness of all environments (e.g., load balancing, database connections, service dependencies).
- Security & Compliance:
- Ensure the security of cloud infrastructure, applications, and data by implementing best practices in access management, encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure the eCommerce platform adheres to regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Performance & Cost Optimization:
- Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of eCommerce systems, ensuring high availability, low latency, and responsiveness.
- Manage cloud cost optimization by identifying inefficiencies and applying resource management strategies
- Environment Provisioning & Configuration
- Automated Infrastructure Deployment: Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to provision non prod environments consistently
- Environment Templates: Create and manage reusable templates for different non prod environments, ensuring consistency in configurations and minimizing the risk of misconfigurations.
- Cloud & On-Prem Resources: Manage both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure (if applicable) to ensure environments scale according to demand.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps managers, leaders and individual contributors.
- Ensure the ongoing training, development, and performance management of team members.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
What you bring to the table:
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Splunk and New Relic).
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, etc.).
- Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Excellent strategic leadership skills to define the transformational path for DevSecOps
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on mentoring and career development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments
- Comprehensive understanding of modern DevOps tools, practices, and methodologies.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale eCommerce platforms and infrastructure.
- Strong background in CI/CD pipeline creation and management (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
Preferred:
- Master’s degree is a plus
- Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Certifications in DevOps or cloud platforms (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps, etc.) are a plus.
